Get started with the no-code movement

no-code movement

No-code?

Humans write code, but no-code software is built by machines. No-code movement is a new way to build software that requires little or no coding. It’s been around for a while, but it’s still new enough that many people have never heard of it—and even fewer understand what it really means.

Introduction

No-code is a way to work, learn and get started. It’s an approach to software development that has been
gaining momentum over the past few years. The no-code movement is a response to traditional methods of building software using code (the practice of writing computer programs).
In this guide, we’ll cover:

  • What is no-code?
  • How does it work?
  • Why should you care about no-code?

What is no-code?

No-code is a new way to build software. It’s a paradigm shift in the way we think about software, and it can be applied in many ways:

  • No-code means using tools to build apps. You don’t need to write code to build an app or website anymore. Instead, use pre-built apps from the App Store or Google Play and customise them with no-code tools like Appy Pie’s no-coding platform.
  • No-code means using visual development platforms like Appy Pie’s toolkit for building responsive web and mobile apps without writing any lines of code whatsoever!
  • And if all else fails, there are still plenty of resources available on our blog that will help get your next project off on the right foot!

How does it work?

There are now tons of tools that are available to pull off an app, that does not require coding. Popular platforms like WordPress, Webflow, Bubble and Typedream are some of the no-code tools that are available to produce a functional website at least.

The no-code movement has a lot of drag-and-drop aspects to it, essentially utilizing the famous what-you-see-is-what-you-get as an underlying characteristic to any no-code technologies available.

The no-code movement also has a lot of integration with other programs, sometimes with the use of application programming interfaces, better known as APIs. This allows components of an app to be hosted by other programs.

it’s a new way to build software

No-code is a new way to build software. It’s also an exciting opportunity for developers, non-developers and businesses alike. No-code tools are easy to use and allow you to create apps quickly without needing any coding experience or technical knowledge.

The no-code movement began in the late 2000s with products like Google App Maker, which was later
discontinued in favour of the product now known as Firebase. In 2014, Apple launched Swift Playgrounds for iPad (now available on iPhone), which allowed even kids to learn how to code in real-time by writing
commands directly into their devices’ screens.

Later that same year Microsoft released AppStudio for Windows Phone 8.1, followed by React Native for iOS and Android mobile applications in 2015 and 2016 respectively – both of these platforms allow users who may not have any prior coding experience whatsoever to create fully functioning mobile applications from scratch using only graphical user interfaces (GUIs).

You’ll find no shortage of amazing resources online that teach people how they can get started building
software using no-code platforms such as AppBuilder Cloud.

Conclusion

In conclusion, we hope you’ve learned more about this emerging trend in software development. No-code is a powerful paradigm that allows users without coding experience to build applications. In our next post on the topic, we’ll explore how no-code can be applied to data science projects and what it means for the future of analytics tools!
